Chaas....most common drink found in Indian households either by itself or after a meal during summer months to keep the body cool. We can have it as sweet lassi also and as masala chaas or ghola and many other names. It is a complete food in itself and has all the elements necessary for a balanced diet. It has a great cooling effect on the stomach and it helps in reducing body heat. Chaas /Buttermilk is an effective therapy to prevent dehydration. Now let’s come to the other condiments added to it. Salt , pepper , jeera powder , chia seeds and moringa powder. We use salt, pepper and jeera powder in all our cuisines but what makes it healthier is chia seeds and moringa. They are loaded with nutrients for our body and brain. Chia seeds are very good antioxidants and full of Fibres and protein which is very helpful in weight loss. Rich in omega 3 fatty acids, they are helpful in reducing risk of heart diseases also . Moringa powder is made of dried moringa(drumsticks) leaves. It has huge amount of antioxidants which helps in fighting with cancer. Rich in iron and magnesium it helps in reduction of fatigue in the body and its vitamin A protects cells from oxidative stress and fights aging.
So beat the heat with chaas.
