Palakad Sambar

Ingredients

Sambar Powder : 2 tbsp
Tur dal:1cup
Potato: 1
Onion :2
Carrot:1
Tomato:2
Green chillies:2
Drumsticks :2
Okra:3
Tamarind :lemon size
Mustard seeds: 1 teaspoon
Asafoetida:1/2tsp
Curry leaves:6
Dry Red chillies: 2
Turmeric powder:1/2tsp
Chilly powder:1/2tsp

1) Coriander seeds:1and1/2 cup
2)Chana dal:1/3cup
3)Urud dal:1/3cup
4)Arhar dal:1/3cup
5)Methi seeds:1tsp
6) Black pepper:1tsp
7)Hing:1tsp
8) Kashmiri dry red chillies:15
9)curry leaves:1/2 cup

Method

1) Soak the tamarind in warm water . After sometime extract the pulp and keep it aside.
2)To the dal add salt,onion,slit green chillies, chopped tomatoes, turmeric and chilly powder.Pressure cook until 3 whistles.
3) .Wash and cut the vegetables less okra into cube size and cook in 4 glasses of water. Add these cooked vegetables into the cooked dal.
3) Take a pan and add 2tsp oil stir fry the okra or bhindi for 2min and add it into the cooked dal along with other vegetables.
4) Take 2tbp of sambar Powder and add it into the curry ,mix and simmer. Now add the tamarind pulp and bring it to boil once.
5) To prepare tadka pour oil into the pan , when the oil is hot add mustard seeds,hing,curry leaves and dry red chillies
6) Pour tadka into the Sambhar.

Method
1) Dry roast the ingredients separately.Roast till the raw smell goes away.
2) Let the ingredient cool and grind them.
