Maharashtrian Amti

Ingredients

Chana dal-1/2 cup
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
salt to taste
Water-2cups
For Tampering:
Rai-1/2 tsp
Curry leaves-8-10
Green chillies-2
Hing- a pinch
Ghee-2 tbsp

Tamarind paste-1tsp
Goda masala-2 tsp
Jaggery-2tsp
Grated coconut-2tbsp

Method

Cook dal with salt and turmeric for 8-10 whistles or untill mashable.Add ghee in a separate kadahi.Add rai and let it crackle.Now add hing,curry leaves,green chillies and red chilli powder. Add cooked daal and stir well. Season with goda masala,jaggery,tamarind paste and grated coconut.Simmer for 10-15 mins on low flame,garnish with corriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
